Hi, I’m Jessica Verrilli.

I’m an investor and builder living in the Bay Area. I co-founded Adverb Ventures and invest in early stage companies.

I’ve been a venture capitalist (at GV) and angel investor (with #ANGELS), a collective I co-founded with 5 amazing colleagues from Twitter.

I was previously VP of Corporate Development & Strategy at Twitter. I helped grow the company from a small start-up of 34 people to a profitable, public company over 8.5 years and dozens of acquisitions.

I love the kinetic energy and serendipity of big cities but I do my best thinking on long trail runs in wide open spaces.

I joined GV as a General Partner on the investing team in early 2018 and led investments in Digits, Instawork, Homebound, The Wing, and Nearby.

#ANGELS

I co-founded #ANGELS, an angel investing collective, in early 2015. I’ve personally invested in 30+ startups, including enterprise software companies like Gusto, Vanta, Threads, and Material Security, healthcare companies like Forward and Color, crypto companies like Coinbase and Anchorage, consumer companies like Literati, Instacart, Winnie and many more. In partnership with Carta, we published widely covered research on the gender equity gap in tech, which we refer to as #TheGapTable. Our work has been covered in the WSJ, NYTimes, Bloomberg, USA Today, and more.

Twitter

I spent nearly nine years at Twitter helping grow the company from a start-up of 34 people to a global platform and profitable business. As VP of Corporate Development & Strategy I co-ran a team responsible for all global M&A and cross-functional strategy projects at the company. I spent the vast majority of that time working with entrepreneurs and leading dozens of acquisitions, including Vine, Periscope, Crashlytics, MagicPony, TweetDeck, Cover and many more. I’ve negotiated many complicated and competitive deals of various sizes and structures in the US and abroad. The heart of this work, however, has been partnering with founders in the critical junctures of building breakout companies.

Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy

When I’m not working from an office, coffee shop, or on an airplane, I’m recharging outside, preferably on a trail run in the Marin Headlands. I’ve completed ultra-marathons in the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest and on the Playa at Burning Man. I’m honored to have served on the board of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (GGNPC) and given back to the public parks that have been a gift in my life. The GGNPC is a non-profit dedicated to supporting the iconic park lands of the Bay Area, including Muir Woods, Crissy Field, the Marin Headlands, Alcatraz, Lands End and beyond. Their mission: Parks. For All. Forever.
